In this project, we are our own client. We decided to create a high-precision laser cutting machine to showcase at SamuExpo 2020 to demonstrate many of the skills of Applyca, a company specializing in consultancy, design, and production of automated industrial machine solutions and service.
In the industrial automation landscape, fiber laser cutting technology represents one of the most effective solutions for meeting the needs of precision, production flexibility, and operational speed. In this case study, we analyze the creation of the Robo Laser Cube, a machine designed and built by Applyca with the aim of combining advanced performance and integrated automation.
Project Requirements and Objectives
Applyca decided to develop a fiber laser cutting machine that could:
- Stand out for its compact dimensions without compromising cutting performance.
- Manage multiple orders simultaneously, with automated part handling and nesting systems.
- Offer movement precision even with small components, with the possibility of digital integration into production flows.
These features are particularly relevant for technical exhibitions such as SamuExpo, where the machine was presented to demonstrate Applyca’s technical expertise in designing advanced automated solutions.
Design Solution
The technical response to the brief was the conception of the Robo Laser Cube, which integrates:
- A robotic cell with automatic nesting control, capable of coordinating robots and laser cutting.
- CAD/CAM compatible CNC numerical control, for an integrated digital flow from design to production.
- Linear motors and an automatic lubrication system, for stable speed and precision performance even during intensive use.
- Modular design, which allows the machine to be adapted and expanded with additional modules over time.
Implementation and Results
During the development and demonstration phases:
- The machine showed high movement accuracy, which is fundamental for the production of small parts.
- The operational speed and reduction in machine downtime allowed for the analysis of the solution’s reliability in real industrial scenarios.
- Compatibility with CAD/CAM systems facilitated programming and configuration operations, reducing setup times.
Conclusions
The creation of the Robo Laser Cube demonstrates how a modular and automated fiber laser cutting machine can meet contemporary production needs: precision, speed, flexibility, and digital integration. Solutions like this represent a benchmark for companies interested in optimizing production processes with cutting-edge technologies.
